    The C-Stud has a thin rubber layer underneath, serving 3 functions:

    It keeps the stud from twisting after installation, forms an insulating layer between the 316 material and the base material (preventing galvanic corrosion, for example on aluminum), and holds a re-fitted fastening in place.
