Fitting a UV strip along the edge of the genoa is recommended to prevent ultraviolet rays from damaging it while furled. The sail, once rolled up, is then fully protected from sun damage.
Furling fabric has been specially designed for this use, as it does not affect the sail's performance. It is light, flexible and strong, and is especially recommended for boats under 40'.
